Wine information
The Doosberg is situated at an altitude of around 120 metres in Oestrich. The soil is characterised by loess and loam. The Riesling was matured in classic large wooden barrels. The ageing period was around two years, initially one year on the full lees, then six months on the fine lees and finally in the bottle.
The vineyard is about 100 metres higher than the Sankt Nikolaus, and there are more loess-loam soils here, i.e. richer soils that bring more power and pressure to the wine. In the eastern part, the vineyard has a marvellous southern exposure, but this is associated with a certain coolness in some parts.
Color
medium straw yellow
Nose
Typical for the Doosberg is its understated and subtle style. Everything is subtle, but deep and harmonious. The attack is characterised by herbal spices and some tobacco, which are complemented by citric notes, blossoms, pure cloves and a fresh sea breeze.
Palate
On the palate, the 2021 Doosberg Light-coloured, slender and fine at first. But with time, you can feel the great inner strength, the pressure and the extract that the Riesling has here. It really pushes forward, but at the same time remains floating, sensual and offers a lot of drinking flow with great length.
