Info about the wine
In the Nikolaihof vineyards no pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or other chemical-synthetic treatments are used. To strengthen the vines and the soil, the horn silica and horn manure preparations are applied. We support the nutrient supply of the vine with the sowing of green manure from different grasses, plants and herbs. The grapes are harvested by hand.
The grapes grow on loam, loess and paragneiss
About the expansion
The wine is fermented without the addition of sugar, enzymes, flavor enhancers and pure culture yeasts exclusively with the natural, grape-own yeast and stored largely in the large, old wooden barrels. After about 6 years of maturation, the wine was drawn to the bottle on a fruit day.
Color
Light golden yellow with still delicate green reflections.
Nose
The 2013 Grüner Veltliner Federspiel is not only incredibly youthful and lively in color, but also in aroma, which is reminiscent of juicy vineyard peaches, mirabelle plum, dried apricot, grapefruit peel, chicory, celeriac and elderberry. Fine flinty notes pair with fresh yeast dough and sweet bread crust. A true firework of flavours, which at the same time rests extremely coherently in itself.
Palate
What a silky lightness spreads out on our tongue, bright and yellow fruit pairs with fine and lively acidity, a stringent and salty minerality and a fine tannin note. This wine is an elegant work of art, characterized by incredible liveliness and youthful freshness, not to neglect the extremely moderate alcohol of only 12 Vol%. Simply wonderful!
