Purple red with violet reflections, transparent and clear.
Nose
The closed poor conglomerate in the nose needs air before it can be disassembled into their individual parts. Which one hardly feels obliged to do, because it shows itself greater in sum than dismantled into its aromatic individual parts. It sings of rich dark berry fruit and balsamic herbal spice, red pepper is there too. But all this outlines him only inadequately, and actually one likes to taste only fast of it.
Mouth
One would do well to do this in large sips, because it is amazing what a cool delicacy Philippe Gimel has succeeded here. The 2014 Microclimate from Saint Jean du Barroux is made from 100% Syrah and has a drinkability that if you tasted it blind, you'd be happy to guess it was 150 kilometres up the Rhône. With juicy fruit and a lean silhouette, it is underpinned by clear minerality and subtle spice and has a fruit-driven finish with herbaceous bitters. Cool Climate Syrah from Provence. Superb!
