Wine Description for Meursault Les Narvaux Élevage Prolongé AOC 2022 by Rémi Jobard

Character
Rémi Jobard, son of the legendary François Jobard, has been vinifying independently since 2008 and has quickly established himself as one of the most precise craftsmen in Meursault. His Les Narvaux with extended ageing (Élevage Prolongé) embodies classic Meursault elegance: creamy texture meets mineral tension. The additional time in barrel lends the wine greater complexity and integration without masking the fresh fruit.
Terroir & Origin
Les Narvaux lies at the northern edge of Meursault, near the border with Puligny-Montrachet, on calcareous soils with a high limestone content. This vineyard site produces wines that are somewhat leaner and more mineral than the more opulent Meursaults from more southerly locations. Burgundy’s continental climate with its cool nights provides the characteristic acidity structure that gives Jobard’s wines their remarkable ageing potential. The 2022 vintage in Burgundy was marked by heat and drought, producing concentrated, ripe wines.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Chardonnay from Meursault is considered the epitome of Burgundian white wine craftsmanship. Jobard works with low yields, spontaneous fermentation and restrained use of new oak barrels – typically between 15 and 25 per cent. The extended barrel ageing on fine lees (sur lie) develops those nutty, buttery notes for which Meursault is renowned, whilst bâtonnage (stirring of the lees) provides creaminess and fullness. Jobard’s style favours finesse over power, precision over opulence.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This Meursault calls for sophisticated cuisine: scallops with nut butter, lobster or langoustines in creamy sauce, turbot with morels, Poulet de Bresse with cream sauce or a mature Comté. Sweetbreads or risotto with white truffle also harmonise beautifully with the texture and complexity of this wine.
