Nose
The 2021 Mercurey Les Montelons has a wild, oriental and generous flavour. Its spiciness based on turmeric, curry, white pepper and saffron is very characteristic. It is accompanied by almonds, hazelnuts and pine nuts. It has an earthy, deep and sometimes chalky character. Dried grass, savoury, marjoram and oregano offer a very exciting, varied herbal flavour. With a little patience, the nutty flavour develops into nougat - wonderful. Its fruit is mainly characterised by dried fruit. Apricot, date and fig come to the fore here.
Palate
It combines its fine, pronounced flavour on the palate with drinking flow, elegance and minerality. It flows silky and smoothly over the palate. The acidity is concise and essential at the same time. The nutty nuances build up around it, while the ethereal flavours seem to stretch it further in length. With zero grams of bacon, it is lean and taut. All its spicy flavours come to the fore again on the finish. Fruit plays no role here.
