Tasting note from from 10.12.2023, Copyright Sebastian Bordthäuser

The grapes for the Eichhorn come from the Terlan site Lieben Aich and the Eichhorn vineyard, a south-western slope at 300m above sea level with soils of sandy loam on weathered prophyry. The Eichhorn 2020 could already be harvested on 25 August thanks to the warm spring and balanced summer. The destemmed grapes were left to macerate for eight hours before the must was spontaneously fermented in wood and matured on the fine lees for nine months.

Color

Medium straw yellow with bright reflections.

Nose

Fragrant and floral, the 2022 Eichhorn Pinot Blanc from Manincor transports you directly to a South Tyrolean orchard with a view over the valley floor. Green and yellow stone fruit such as apples and small plump pears as well as ripe melons fill its fruit basket, with a hint of lime blossom in the air and lemon balm lining the way. Lemon blossom and kitchen herbs such as chervil and borage underpin it with fine herbal spice and floral notes.

Mouth

This Pinot Blanc is clear as a bell on the palate and dispenses with fruity cascades of fruit, instead presenting a polished clarity with focussed fruit in the extract and a dry appearance on the palate. Clearly contoured by the delicate tannins and carried by the ripe, cleanly worked acid nerve, it flows into the fruity, cool finish.
