Info

The wines of the N series represent an experimental and highly creative playground for Michael Andres. Small lots experience maximum freedom and time in any processes here. Spontaneous fermentation and no applied filtration one them all.

N stands for Natural, No filtration, No Limits and Next Level.

The Maushöhle on the Kirchenberg stands on ancient sandstone terraces. The barren red sandstone weathered soils exist in this form only in a few places. The site faces southeast and is close to the edge of the forest.

It is fermented spontaneously in steel tanks. No malolactic fermentation took place. Until racking, the Riesling lies on the fine lees until June 2022.

Nose

The wines of Michael Andres always follow a clear idea. Pure expression of their origin with finesse and elegance as well as their own clear signature. Pure Palatinate in the glass, which lives from fine fruit and terroir at the same time. A hint of tart apple duels with a fine breeze of herb garden for supremacy in the nose. Yellow and red apples open up in abundance. Delicately, it shows us ripe peach as well as grapefruit. The balance of fruit density and freshness is very successful. From the herb garden, it reveals lemon balm, thyme, chervil and sage. All in all, the fragrance in the glass is very appealing.

Palate

On the palate, it continues this seamlessly. The fruit is undermined by this recurring positively tart accent. At the same time, it comes across as taut and cool. The acidity is typically striking for a Palatinate, but perfectly integrated. It appears racy and full of character. It is also allowed to be tangy. Fruit and herbs reappear analogous to the nose.

Food recommendations from Marian Henß

  • Palatinate stuffed pig's stomach, roast potatoes and melted onions
  • Trout blue with horseradish cream sauce and jacket potatoes
  • Celery and apple salad with walnuts and camelina oil vinaigrette
