Color:
Sparkling golden yellow, bright reflections
Nose:
On the nose, the 2019 Clos de Bourg sec leaves a very complex impression. The Chenin blanc appears concentrated and rich. Ripe peach and nashi pear make the beginning. Tropical aromatics of honeydew melon and candied pineapple follow. A touch of lemon zest and freshly ground white pepper offer some spice. Roasted coriander seeds also reveal themselves. Hints of light tobacco lead inevitably down the path of chenin blanc. This seems to be underpinned by a purity that is only found in this form in soils with a high lime content.
Palate:
Full of concentrated fruit, it offers a juicy, intense appeal. With a cornucopia of ripe fruit it spreads out. Ripe peach as well as honeydew melon and pineapple echo. Acidity and fruit are in harmony with each other. Expressive and full of elegance at the same time. The intense fruit is bundled in a vibrant stream. Slightly smoky nuances round off the spectacle.
The clear, salty minerality is omnipresent in the finish.
