Info about the situation
Clos du Bourg is one of the oldest Grand Cru parcels in France, consisting of shallow clay soil with limestone in the subsoil. The flowing Loire River gently provides the vines with morning dew and the southern exposure helps them catch brilliant sunlight, which is very important for the ripening of Chenin.
Info about the wine
Clos du Bourg is the closest parcel to the Loire. The young, vigorous vines often produce beautiful dry wines, as they did in 2018. A wine was made under the hot midday sun, in the shadow of the bell tower of the
"Notre Dame of Vouvray".
Color
Sparkling golden yellow.
Nose
The 2018 Vouvray Clos du Bourg smells of bright sweet fruits such as quince, pear, yellow applesauce. The iodine and mineral notes are clear from the start, with aniseed, acacia blossom and honey. After a longer contact with oxygen, hay and dried pastries are added. A summer meadow in full bloom, you can literally hear the bees buzzing.
Palate
Fresh, precise and lively it flows over the tongue. Here, lemon, candied lemon peel and walnut join in. The interplay of fruit, fruit sweetness, stimulating acidity and fine tannin structure makes it appear particularly appealing. A coherent drop, which combines drinking flow with tension and precision.
Be sure to decant.
