Wine information
This wine comes from two hectares at an altitude of 230 metres in the Pouilly-Vinzelles appellation from 40 to 55-year-old Chardonnay vines on clay and limestone soil from the Bajocium. Hand-picked from 23 to 29 August 2022. This was followed by whole-cluster pressing and spontaneous fermentation, followed by ageing at 80 % in tank and 20 % in Pièces of 228 litres with 100-%iger malolactic fermentation. The total sulphur is 28 mg/l and the pH value is 3.24.
Color
Medium straw yellow, slightly lighter, more bronze-coloured and cloudy than its slightly more sulphurised counterpart
Nose
With the Zen version the Bret brothers have a second version of the Pouilly-Vinzelleswhich differs only by a few milligrams fewer sulphites. Nevertheless, you get the feeling of having a different wine in your glass. It is lighter in flavour with more lemon and zest, more green apple and a little more lime, but a little less fullness.
Palate
The Chardonnay is just as present on the palate as it is on the nose. The notes of crunchy pomaceous fruit and citrus flavours flow fresh and bright across the tongue. The wine is compact with an agile acidity and pleasant pressure as well as a very fine tannin.
