Color
Pure purple.
Drawing impressive stained glass windows, the wine barely lightens to the rim and comes out clear, yet almost black with a violet sheen in a dark sheen.
Nose
The first association shoots a pleasant feeling in the head and heart. Black Forest cake.
In that shape, you'll find the harmonious marriage of sweet dark black cherries with subtly toasty baked goods, as well as the subtly tart side of dark dark chocolate and a lasciviously applied, sin-inducing blob of life-affirming cream. Next to it, blueberries that have burst into Cookie Dough muffins while baking, mixing their juices with a spice blend of cardamom, mace and black pepper.
This wine tempts to culinary dreaming and digression.
Palate
Granato is Teroldego in precision. He comes across as casually chic and worldly. Neither does he need to show off in a tanned muscle shirt, nor does he see fit to squeeze into a tailor-made suit that doesn't quite fit in order to conform to supposed ideals of beauty. He wants to feel good in his skin. The 2013 Granato of family Foradori shines in rich dark berry and lasting fruit. This is lovingly embraced by tannins that are as supportive as they are soft and ripe. The harmoniously integrated acidity delights in the present but promises above all longevity in the future. 2013 Granato irrefutable YES.
