It is a rare sight to grow Gewürztraminer in the Grand Cru Rangen. Due to the higher altitude and the cold in late winter and early spring, it is often difficult to achieve a timely bud break and ensure a smooth flowering. This is the reason why the two small Gewürztraminer vineyards were strategically placed above the Thur river and below Clos Saint-Urbain. The volcanic sedimentary soils of these vineyards are particularly suited to both intensify and prolong the fragrant, aromatic profile of this grape variety.
The brilliant golden yellow glows and shines with beauty.
The Gewürztraminer Clos Saint Urbain Rangen de Thann 2018 is a wonder of fragrance. It presents itself with notes of roses, lime blossom, lily of the valley, pears, quince, apricots and mango, finely balanced and united by a touch of lightness and grace.
It conjures up an irresistibly rich taste and fresh finesse on the palate. With its solid, smoky minerality, it immediately grabs your attention and won't let you go. The elegant sweetness meets a juicy layer of fruit and spice, resulting in a delightful interplay. This is an exceptional and impressive Gewürztraminer that is a step up and ideal for fine gourmet dishes. For those who cannot wait, it is advisable to decant it a day or two before enjoying and serve it from large Burgundy glasses.
Recommended dishes: Pair this wine with dishes such as Moroccan chicken with salt and lemon, Peking duck with bulgur and cumin hollandaise. It also goes well with game dishes, such as a saddle of venison with citrus peel, bacon and duck liver mousse. The wine can also be served well with desserts such as a poppy seed mousse with white peach sorbet.
