Info about the wine

In the Grand Cru Rangen site, growing the Gewürztraminer grape is not a matter of course! The influence of the altitude and the cold valley in late winter/early spring can delay bud break and flowering can be problematic. For this reason, the two small Gewürztraminer vineyards are located just above the Thur River below Clos Saint-Urbain. The volcanic sedimentary soils of this vineyard are capable of catapulting this aromatic grape to both the nose and the palate. (Olivier Humbrecht)

The 2018 Gewurztraminer Clos Saint Urbain Rangen de Thann beguiles with finesse, freshness and stimulating fragrance roses, lime blossom, lily of the valley, pear, quince, apricot and mango. All aromas are finely interwoven and animated by a floating lightness and elegance.


It shines with freshness, finesse and fine aromatics on the tongue. Its compact, smoky and firm minerality grabs hold on the palate and doesn't let us go. Elegant sweetness meets juicy fruit and spice, resulting in a wonderful interplay. A truly great and impressive Gewürztraminer that is second to none and that enriches in combination with great gourmet cuisine.
The impatient are advised to decant it one or two days before and to enjoy it from large Burgundy glasses.
