Color
Clear and shining through and through, the face of the wine shines like that of a gold bar.
Nose
Flower scents shimmy as gracefully as purposefully, like lianas out of the jar into freedom. Bright roses and peonies, as well as apple blossoms and acacia lovingly break through the wax of a honeycomb with their flower stems. Pronounced yet precise fruit without kitsch gets ready to assault the palate in the form of passion fruit, apricot compote and dried mango. The spicy aromas of cardamom and earthy components of green almonds and birch bark support the "perfuming" and keep it in check.
Palate
Triumphantly and pompously, the entire orchestra sets in, including a drumbeat. Filling the room, the concentrated fruit spreads into the throat and palate and nestles against them like a cuddly kitten; only that the kitten is a lion.
The Rangen de Thann Gewürztraminer Grand Cru of Domaine Zind Humbrecht from 2013 is powerful but equally elegant from its melting side. Almost oily, but brought back into straight form by the acidity, which is due to the vintage, the wine presents itself stoutly long instead of becoming too expansively broad.
