Wine information
Pinot Grigio is one of the grape varieties that, if fermented on the skins, can absorb a lot of colour. After all, strictly speaking, Pinot Grigio is not a white grape variety, but a grey one with a lot of colour in the skins. Even the orange wax cap of the Fuoripista bottle indicates that this wine is not one of the millions of usual Pinot Grigios from Trentino, but something completely different. In fact, the Pinot Gris, which is also from the Demeter-certified Fuoripista vineyard of Marco Devigili, a winemaker who is a friend of the Foradori, was aged on the skins in Spanish tinajas for eight months.
Color
Œil de Pedrix, pale red transparent
Nose
The 2019s Fuoripista Pinot grigio smells complex and hauntingly of a composition of blood oranges including zests, red apple including peel, as well as nuts and rose hips, barberries and cranberries. The aroma is rounded off by a hop and yeast note typical for unsulphured wines, which is complemented by a herbal extract with juniper like in a gin.
Palate
On the palate the Fuoripista lively and charmingly silky. The Tinajas - this is also known from the red Foradori wines Morei and Sgarzon - provide a texture all of its own, which is actually reminiscent of the fine-pored surface of fired clay. This is also the case here. The acidity is typically gentle, almost soft, but lively and present. The slightly tart fruit here combines again with notes of peel, nuts, zest and sweet bread crumbs. This is Pinot Grigio, newly thought and vinified.
