Nose
The 2021 Wagram Grüner Veltliner is surprisingly open and present at this young stage. Citrus fruits appear in the form of bergamot, grapefruit and lime. Kaffir lime leaves also reveal themselves. On the herbal side, it is characterised by fresh meadow herbs and cut grass. It has a subtly herbaceous character that is positively reminiscent of raw cabbage. Roasted seeds of mustard, coriander and fennel now increasingly spread through the nose. Green pear gives it another tart-fresh touch along the way.
Palate
On the nose, it is still enormously crisp and fresh. The acidity is still quite present and pointed. However, its juicy nature counterbalances this. The acidity comes along with an enormous amount of pressure and interacts with its salty character. Its vegetal and herbal notes come to the fore again. Restrained, it shows a fine phenolic structure with a well perceived feel. In the aftertaste, pear and green apples come to the fore again, along with fresh herbs.
