Info about the wine
Jechtinger Enselberg; well-drained west-facing site with spectacular views of the Rhine plain, essentially characterised by its partly lighter, partly darker and stony volcanic rock in the subsoil. A fine layer of loess forms the topsoil. Two plots planted in 1999 and 2003 with 100 percent Burgundian Pinot Noir clones.
Information on the expansion
18 months ageing in French barriques, 40 % of new wood.
Color
Muted cherry red with clear violet reflections.
Nose
The 2020 Jechtinger Enselsberg Spätburgunder Grosse Lage shows itself as a true seducer in the bouquet, sour cherry, wild raspberry, rose petals, elderberry, elderberry pulp beguile in the attack. The young and juicy fruit is rounded off by fine wood notes, liquorice, light tobacco, white pepper, ivy and violets. A wine that already touches beautifully in the nose and invites to the first sip.
Palate
Pure finesse on the palate, the fine fruit mingles with invigorating acidity, graphite notes and an extremely elegant and skilful use of wood. With every sip, the desire for another is awakened. Lightly chilled, a fantastic companion to dishes with earthy, fruity and smoky components.
