Nose
Muscat d'Alexandrie has very aromatic berries. And when they are left on the mash for a longer time and the wine is bottled with very little sulfur, it takes on a very special character. Then it smells intensely of hop-stuffed craft beer with grapefruits and salt lemons, fennel greens and roses. The cuvee is then expressive, needs big glasses and sprays its charm as it were with a big heart.
Palate
Tom Lubbe's 2019 Cuvée Alexandria plays out fully on the palate what it hints at on the nose. The moderate maceration makes for a lively texture that offers a light resistance. The fruit alternates between limes, salted lemons and grapefruits to tangerines, joined by hints of nutmeg, rose and lychee. Again, you'll find the aroma hops. Fresh and liberating, the acidity gives the wine great drive and carries the distinct aromatics into the tart finish.
