Nose
The nose of the 2016 Cottá Barbaresco by Andrea Sottimano is accessible and inviting. With open-hearted fruit, it welcomes you with arms wide open. The red-fruited aromas of cherries and berries are ethereally surrounded by notes of thyme and sandalwood and grounded by dark aromas of black cherries, dark tobacco and juniper berries. A multilayered melange in constant change.
Mouth
Also at the palate the Cottá is trusting and benevolent. Despite its youth, it shows itself with juicy, silky fruit that is lined with ripe, small-bodied tannins that clothe it in the finest twine. With a chalky texture and bright, clear acidity, it is coated with grippy tannin and velvety garnish of fully ripe fruit until it flows with formidable length into the ethereally cool finish.
