Color
The wine shows a rich golden yellow with a discreet tendency to amber and a glimmer of cloudiness shining in the glass.
Nose
This wine represents its homeland with model-like peculiarity. The blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, Manzoni Bianco and Sauvignon Blanc takes some time in the glass, but then unabashedly shows its yellow-fleshed, spicy nature. Its aroma is just as expressive as its color, but it requires air, ideally a carafe, a little patience, and an appropriately large glass.
Its aroma is reminiscent of Heston Blumenthal's pineapple roasted over an open fire. In addition, honeydew melon, peel of blood orange and grapefruit, as well as sea buckthorn form the fruity basis of this wine. Spicy aromas of chamomile, laurel and fresh turmeric as well as the scent of fresh shaken bread with fennel seeds and sage, along with green tea, bring delightful ethereal notes.
Palate
On the palate, Martin Gojer's 2017 Caroline lives up to the portents of its nose. Ripe, yellow fruit flashes and has come to stay. With vigor and character, the Pranzegg blended set occupies the throat. Its yellow-fleshed fruit forms the canvas on which its spice can run riot in the form of expressionism turned into wine. An initially broad-shouldered appearance and creamy texture transform into straightforwardness at 12.5 %Vol and reverberate bittersweetly and literally asking for hearty food to go with it. Its fine-grained, yet taut tannin structure, which gives the wine freshness, especially in the aftertaste through discreet bitterness, lets it shine with vitality along with mischievous acidity.
