Wine information
For this wine from the Négoce series Petit Aigle Boris Champy has acquired an Ecocert certified organic Pinot Noir from Santenay, the southernmost appellation of the Côte d'Ôr. Boris Champy de-stems around 70 % of the grapes, so there is a proportion of whole grapes. He has fermented spontaneously, extracted gently and aged the wine for ten to twelve months in tonneaux and bottled without filtration.
Color
quite intense garnet red
Nose
Boris Champys Petit Aigle Santenay 2020 opens with a little volatile acidity, so off to the decanter. Then herbs and rocks come to the fore as well as a dark ripe fruit of black cherries and sour cherries, damsons and some sloes combined with a little wood and firm dark chocolate.
Palate
On the palate the Santenay Silky and juicy with lots of dark fruit lining the palate. The wood is discreetly used, the acidity branches out in the dark fruit and provides liveliness. It appears ripe and round. Likewise, the tannin presents itself, which has already largely melted away and is responsible for Charm and Rondeur provides. The wine is not deep and complex, but it is very charming and pleasing.
