Wine information
The Le Jour is a Champagne from 100 % Pinot Meunier. The fruit comes from the Premier Cru single vineyard Le Jour in Vrigny. The vines, which were planted in 1971, stand on a clay-silt soil with a limestone subsoil. The base wine from the Cœur de Cuvée was fermented spontaneously and matured for nine months in four-year-old 228 and 400-litre barrels. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was not sulphurised, but fermented as Brut Nature disgorged. This bottle was bottled in 05/2021 and disgorged in 02/2023.
Color
Straw yellow with a fine perlage and a light copper colour
Nose
The Le Jour is a champagne made from 100 % Pinot Meunier. It starts with a spicy impression of blond tobacco and crumbly apple notes, crushed stone and apple peel. There are also notes of pomelo, lemon zest, herbs and some wax.
Palate
This is also a pleasantly spicy dry champagne on the palate, whose flavour is combined with a fine extract sweetness and a touch of patisserie. The Le Jour is juicy and fresh, crisp and savoury and, thanks to the absence of sulphur, open and inviting. The mouthfeel is mellow and grippy. There are also notes of tobacco, apple peel and wet stone. This is individual and harmonious.
