Wine information
Bensheim's Hemsberg is characterised by weathered granite. It is pure granite grit with a lot of skeleton and a sufficient proportion of fine soil. The old vines on terraces are interspersed with trees and hedges. The Riesling was pressed slowly after hand-picking and fermented spontaneously in wooden barrels. There it enjoyed a long yeast storage. It was coarsely filtered and lightly sulphurised.
Color
deep straw yellow
Nose
The 2022 Hemsberg makes a lively impression from the very first moment. It alternates between juicy apple notes, apple peel, firm pure plums and a little limequat with abrasion. There is also a distinctive overtone of flowers, garden herbs, a little rock and a hint of yeast.
Palate
On the palate, the Riesling is impressively juicy, present and full-bodied thanks to a clear extract and the long lees ageing. At the same time, it is absolutely lively and agile with a fine pressure in the acid structure and a mouth-watering salinity. In the finish, it becomes clear once again how pleasantly firm, extracted and dry this Riesling has become.
