Wine information
The Argos is a single varietal Sauvignon Blanc from Guillaume Sorbe. The fruit comes from plots in Quincy with vines on predominantly gravelly-limestone soils. After spontaneous fermentation over three years, the wine was aged partly in tank, but mainly in used 400- and 600-litre barrels. Since the 2018 vintage, the Quincy as Vin de France declared.
Color
strong straw yellow colour
Nose
Guillaume Sorbes Argos impresses already in the fragrance with its clarity and precision. It smells of some fresh peas, some white cassis along with leaves, limes and a smoky, chalky note along with wet stone and petrichor. There is also a yeasty note from the long ageing.
Palate
The palate is immediately intense and powerful with an impressive acidity and lots of juice from limes and feijoas, further with some nettle leaf. In addition, the Argos offers great fullness on the palate with freshness and precision with salty tart notes on the finish. This seems concentrated, elegant, balanced and has a lot of potential.
