Color

Dark ruby red in colour with a violet rim and an opaque core, the wine appears clear and bright in the glass.

Nose

The iron fist in the velvet glove.

Black core with a good soul. This wine is full of substantial density and meaty spice, but this must first be unleashed. Therefore, it demands time and definite decanting.

The dark berry aroma of the cuvée of Blaufränkisch and Merlot, from blueberries and blackberries to roasted plums, beguiles the senses. With the bready spice of roasted grain and barley malt, as well as cocoa shell and the peaty hints of buckwheat, it transforms and turns into a mine of wine in terms of depth, in which there is, as mines have it, so much valuable to discover.

Palate

The 2016 Salzberg by Heike and Gernot Heinrich, from the most famous south-facing vineyard of the same name in Gols, is broad-shouldered and powerful with rich, firm yet sensitive tannins and an acidity that strengthens the backbone.

He is well aware of his strength, but he has no need to carry it around in front of him.

Majestic grandeur only lasts positively and in the long term if the power exercised is in harmony with a healthy self-assessment and a steadily rooted grounding.
