Color
The wine shows itself in bright sunflower yellow clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
Who likes it stony and yet full of open-hearted fruit opulence, has here his joy and enjoys this ascent...
The citrus freshness of lime zest and grapefruit zest ethereally teases the nature of an apple, which has changed over the years from a green to a now fully ripe yellow apple. A faint hint of passion fruit and pineapple trunk contribute subtle exoticism while herbal mint and lemon balm, as well as lemongrass and lime blossom, run riot. The fruit of this Riesling remains subtle and is strengthened by white pepper and the coolness of wet stone.
Consistently, his fragrance allows a certain maturity, but is quite far from even the slightest sign of fatigue.
Palate
Vibrant in itself, the 2015 Riesling vom roten Schiefer "late Release" from Clemens Busch creates tension on the palate. Its delicate, yet firm yellow fruit briefly shows its youthful, fresh, citrusy side before it settles down on the palate, resting in itself. A hint of delicate fruit melt is rendered multi-faceted, while the wine's extremely straightforward acidity keeps it meticulously compact. Living up to its name and mouthwatering, the finish of this supposedly small Riesling is stony and long.
This wine has found its center.
I'm glad he's still around.
Or again?
