Color
pale straw yellow
Nose
Precision and clarity are the values that the 2017 Schlossberg Grand Cru would like to convey. Thus, the wine is almost crisp by Alsatian standards with tart green apple and lime, before it slowly but surely becomes a little more yellow. Kumquats and yellow apples, stone fruit, some cardamom and liquorice.
Palate
Also on the palate this Castle Hill precise and above all full of pressure and tension. The fine, clear acidity is beyond all doubt and pervades the Riesling until the long finish. It counters the restrained seven grams of fruit sweetness, even negates them. The wine lives from its bright notes, its citric bite and the impressive minerality that makes it vibrate. What a wonderful tension this wine builds up.
