Information about the wine
According to the VDP statute, the first vineyards are located below the Niersteiner Große Lagen Hipping, Ölberg etc.. But even if it is officially a wine from first sites, you can be sure that a good portion of Riesling from the parade sites is included. From this local terroir, which is mostly characterized by red clay slate, the Riesling is produced in single and double barrels with a restrained 3 grams of residual sweetness and a crisp 8 grams of acidity.
Color
pale straw yellow
Nose
At the beginning, the Riesling is dominated by a citrus and citrus zest note. Then the wine becomes more and more fine, spicy and herb-scented. It smells slightly ethereal, tobacco, of stone and a little earth, but also of white and yellow fruit and ripe Riesling grapes.
Palate
On the palate, grip, a tight structure, extract and the tart fruit of kumquats, grapefruits, but also some stone fruit. The Riesling seems juicy, almost oily and silky in the downright soft, but very lively acidity. When it goes towards the finale, the Niersteiner Riesling becomes more and more extract-rich, the stone more and more present, smokier and saltier, the minerality more and more electrifying.
