Wine background
The first acquisition of the Tement family is undoubtedly the vineyard called Ried Grassnitzberg Riff, which was already taken possession of by founder Josef Tement in the 1950s. Its unique basin location with a southeastern exposure is home to old vines that take their roots in a 16-million-year-old coral reef. A time-consuming maturation process of 24 months on fine yeast as well as in large oak barrels and a gentle, unfiltered bottling are the hallmarks of this wine.

Visual impression
The eye is greeted with a bright, golden-yellow hue with striking green reflections running through it.

Smell
The 2020 Ried Grassnitzberg Riff Sauvignon Blanc captivates with a well-defined, intense aroma. The clear purity of a mountain spring is mirrored in the scents of wild herbs and a subtle smokiness. Fruity accents of young gooseberry, lime, orange, papaya, mango and green banana reveal themselves with relish. A wine that already has an impressive presence in its young phase and increases the anticipation of the first sip immeasurably.

Taste
On the palate, it convinces with a juicy character, a charming surge of fresh acidity and a salty finish. Its way of harmoniously stimulating the flow of saliva ensures optimised enjoyment. A wine that gives more pleasure after each sip and offers enormous prospects for maturation, but also rewards its drinker with already existing openness. Ideal for occasions where a fresh herbal or vegetable cuisine comes into play.

Accompanying dishes
Try it with unusual dishes like parsnip gnocchi with brown butter and pecorino, green minestrone with poached salmon or a house speciality like a carpaccio pizza with prosciutto di Parma.
