Wine Description for Solerte Macerato IGT Terre Siciliane 2024 by Vino Lauria

Colour & Appearance
A hazy, luminous amber with amber-coloured reflexes – the characteristic appearance of a skin-contact fermented white wine that draws its colour from extended skin contact.
Nose
The Zibibbo (also known as Muscat d’Alexandrie) unfolds an intoxicating play of aromas: vineyard peach and oranges meet orange peel, elderflower and rose oil. A hint of fresh mint lends additional complexity to the bouquet. This multi-layered nose masterfully shifts between sweetness, intense aromatics and refreshing vibrancy – an olfactory profile full of Mediterranean poetry.
Palate
On the palate, the 2024 Solerte Macerato reveals its full personality: pronounced yellow fruit and citrus notes are carried by an invigorating acidity. The distinctive tannin structure – a result of the skin maceration time – lends the wine grip and an almost red-wine texture that sets it apart from conventional white wines. This tannin structure makes it particularly intriguing and gastronomically versatile.
Finish
Long-lasting with citrus-fresh minerality and a fine echo of tannins that lend structure and length to the finish.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Zibibbo, skin-fermented in orange wine style. The extended skin maceration extracts not only colour but also tannins and phenols that give the wine its distinctive texture and complexity.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A wine that practically calls out for food: perfect with grilled swordfish, pasta with sardines and wild fennel, Moroccan tagines, spicy Asian curries or aged hard cheeses. The tannin structure also makes it an intriguing companion for roasted poultry.
Special Features
Excellent value for money for an authentic Sicilian orange wine. A wine with personality that lingers long in the memory.
