Wine Description for Muscat Turckheim 2021 from Domaine Zind-Humbrecht

Colour & Appearance
Pale, radiant golden yellow with silvery reflections – a youthful wine that communicates its freshness already in the glass.
Nose
Initially somewhat reserved and reductive, the Muscat opens up after aeration with classic varietal character: fresh grapes, young apricots, grapefruit and rose petals. With air contact, additional nuances unfold of ivy, musk, coriander, white pepper and ginger – an aromatic kaleidoscope that rewards patience.
Palate
Here the wine shows its best side: fresh, invigorating and pleasantly dry with beautiful drinking flow. The fine, appetite-stimulating spice makes it an ideal table companion. Yellow fruits and ginger on the palate are carried by pronounced minerality – a Muscat that places elegance before opulence.
Finish
Medium-length with exotic fruit notes and persistent mineral precision that leaves the palate refreshed.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from gravelly-silty alluvial soils near the winery in Turckheim. The warmer climate of the region enables ideal physiological ripeness at moderate alcohol potential – perfect conditions for a dry Muscat with finesse.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A blend of both colour variants of Muscat Petit Grain (regionally called Muscat d’Alsace). Olivier Humbrecht relies on physiological full ripeness to avoid exaggerated varietal typicity. The wine ferments completely dry at moderate 12% alcohol – a masterclass in balance and drinking pleasure.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A versatile food companion: honeydew melon with burrata and mint, grilled prawns with spicy grapefruit salad or surprisingly also pulled pork with oranges, thyme and hoisin sauce. The aromatic intensity and spice of the wine harmonises beautifully with creative, aromatic cuisine.
Special Features
A Muscat that proves this grape variety can do far more than just sweet and perfumed. Zind-Humbrecht’s dry interpretation is an aperitif and food wine par excellence – approachable, but by no means simple.
