Wine information
The Riesling comes from the vineyard Maustal, a four-hectare vineyard south of Sulzfeld am Main, facing south and southeast. The steep slope is characterized by meager and skeleton-rich upper shell limestone. The vines on this site are the oldest vines that we have planted ourselves. As always with the winery Zehnthof Luckert, the grapes are harvested by hand, rapped, allowed a slightly longer maceration period and fermented spontaneously. Luckert's wines are aged in classic double barrels made of Franconian oak.
Color
Bright, light golden yellow with delicate green reflections.
Nose
Due to its youth, the 2022 Sulzfelder Maustal Riesling GG still appears firm and closed on the nose, with a compact minerality. After sufficient aeration, which it demands, aromas of green apple, lime and citrus emerge. Coriander and mustard flour are paired with yeasty and resinous notes and fresh, almost ethereal notes of lemon balm, sorrel and mint make it appear wonderfully fresh and playful despite its compactness.
Palate
On the palate, it is dense and razor sharp. It presents itself with crisp acidity and pronounced spiciness, which again brings up citrus and apple components in the finish. It will be extremely exciting over the next few years to follow the development of this wine, which already shines with beauty, density and verve. Patience is required and if you want to enjoy it now, it should be decanted and not enjoyed too cold from large glasses.
