Wine information
Langenmorgen is a high, southeast-facing vineyard in Deidesheim that was first mentioned in 1491. This vineyard has a subsoil of red sandstone and a topsoil of red sandstone rubble with a light layer of loess. The Riesling was harvested in November. It stood on the mash for up to six hours, was spontaneously fermented and fermented down to about 2 grams of residual sugar and aged in large double barrels and stainless steel.

Nose
Like all Christmann's wines, this one also presents itself 2016 Langenmorgen very precise. One directly senses the typical Deidesheim fruitiness of stone fruit and the simultaneous freshness of the relatively cool location. In addition to peaches and apricots that have just ripened, one finds lemons in the fruit basket, but also red currants and a whole range of dried garden herbs.
Mouth
What clarity and what calm precision pervades the Langenmorgen. The apricots and nectarines provide a fine juiciness and an almost sweet creaminess on the palate, even though it is clear that the wine, taken on its own, is fully fermented. But that's the pleasing balance here of just-ripe fruit with a bit of extract sweetness, there of grippy, spicy, vibrant and demanding. Together, this interplay forms a complex whole, which currently presents itself unusually open.
