Info

The Jeaunaux-Robin vineyard is located in the south of the Côte de Blancs. The village of Tallus Les Prix is a rural idyll. The glamour of Epernay or Reims are far away. The vineyards in the valley are exposed to late frosts here. Pinot Meunier dominates here and is best equipped to withstand these weather conditions. A small proportion of Chardonnay in the cuvee comes from the Côte de Bar.

The wines are matured in used barrique barrels and ideally do not undergo biological acid reduction.

Eclats de Meulieres means splinters of millstone. These limestone fragments can be found in the vineyards. Their high mineral content stands for itself.

There is also clay, flint and white marl.

Color

Dense hay yellow with delicate orange reflections, intense foaming and long-lasting mousseux and rapid perlage.

Nose

Jeaunaux-Robin succeeds in conveying a purist style all its own. Pure chalk on the nose. Absolute associations with school days and the chalky smell of wet chalk and the sponge that is never replaced. Oyster shell and sea spray provide maritime accents. A fine yellow fruit builds up next to it. Brioche and the like are not to be found. A hint of butterscotch, but much more purism, lemon zest and salt stones.

Palate

On the palate, it seems extremely precise and accessible at the same time. It shows no edge, although it is consistent. Lean and racy, yet comprehensible to everyone. The combination of sharp acidity with abundant mineral accents levers each other into higher spheres.
