Wine information

The Grand Cru site Les Bressandes is located exactly in the middle of the Corton hill below Clos du Roi and Les Renardes. Together with Clos du Roi, it is considered the best Grand Cru site on the Corton hill. The 1.12 hectares are divided into four plots, and the soil is characterized by bajocium and Oxford limestone with pebbles, clay and a high iron content. The Corton-Bressandes comes from vines that are on average 35 years old, the grapes were picked between 1 and 12 September and meticulously sorted out. The wine was fermented with a proportion of 40 to 50 % whole grapes.

Nose

The 2017 vintage of the Corton-Bressandes shows an impressive ripeness and juiciness on the nose. The wine is currently dominated by a dark wild berry fruit, which is mixed with warm, freshly pressed raspberries and wild strawberries. In the background, some cinnamon and vanilla, some tree bark and juniper as well as a slightly lactic note and a rest of yeast show up in the still completely youthful and fruit-driven Pinot.

Mouth

Also on the palate, the ripe dark and slightly warm berry fruit shows up, which mixes with a note of vanilla cream and fine oak. Power, structure and minerality of the Corton show bubbling in the underground, but currently still play the supporting role. The tannin is ripe as well as shaping, and the acidity is precisely designed to penetrate and channel the full fruit. For fruit drinkers, this is currently a wonderful moment - otherwise, put it away and enjoy it a few years later.
