Color
Bright lemon yellow with light green reflections
Nose
The nose delivers far more than one would expect from a Bourgogne Blanc. Chardonnay is notoriously not an aromatic grape variety. Lime and a restrained smoky tone make the start. Ripe stone fruit, quince tart and sponge cake prepare a real feel-good factor. Thoughts of fine patisserie can also be extended with tarte tartin and cream cake. Grilled pineapple on the nose bridges the smoky nuances and yellow fruitiness. A little tart orange jam, some marjoram and toasted almond slivers provide variation.
Palate
The Clos du Moulin aux Moines estate fills their Clos de la Perrière monopollage in the Bourgogne Blanc appellation. The estate is clearly increasing in quality in the last few years. The limestone in the subsoil expresses itself in linearity. Minerality and acidity provide a very nice interplay. With a delicate melting through the large wooden barrel, it flatters the palate. It never seems heavy, but elegant and light. The price-pleasure ratio is sensationally high. This depth and the intense expression of its origin deliver a Burgundy experience in far higher spheres - buy recommendation!
