Tasting note from dated Nov 27, 2019 copyright Peter Mueller

Color:

The wine shows itself in dark garnet red with a purple core clear and shiny in the glass.

Nose:

At first, the wine is fruit-laden, almost filled with pure cheerfulness, marked by bright red berries. Blackberries, blueberries and small wild strawberries meet dried rosehip and fresh figs. Underpinning and slightly darkening this fragrance is a subtle earthy spiciness that carries sweetness and heartiness in a way that only beetroot can. Black pepper, a trace of clove and the malty character of pumpernickel complete the picture.

Palate:

With all the expansive, fragrant aromatics on the nose, the first appearance on the palate is almost timid. The 2017 Baden Pinot Noir from Forgeurac concentrates its power without collapsing into breadth on the palate. A berry opening free of diffuse sweetness is prevented from drifting into cheesiness with fine-grained, slightly drying tannin. The moderate and at the same time grippy acidity and the cool legacies of a careful handling of the year 2017 make this wine a serious, balanced and exciting Pinot Noir, which rather concentrates on origin and grape variety as a "typical make of German land".
Thank Bacchus.
