Wine information
The champagne is a blend of 50 % Pinot Noir and 50 % Chardonnay from the 2016 vintage. The vineyards of Champagne Louise Brison are located at around 320 metres above sea level and are characterised by Kimmeridge limestone and marl with a layer of clay - similar to neighbouring Chablis. The base wine was fermented in barriques, the blend was assembled in stainless steel and bottled in June 2017. Brut Nature was disgorged in May 2023.
Color
Golden yellow with a slightly coppery hue and lively perlage
Nose
The 2016 À L'Aube de la Côte des Bar smells elegant and particularly of a mixture of citrus, some light-coloured pome and stone fruit as well as rocks. The citrus fruits are both acidic and pithy, as well as slightly sweet and juicy in parts. There are also zest and notes of salted lemons. The copper hue of the colour is also reflected in the aroma, with a hint of crumbly apples, crushed stone, oyster shells and a little iodine. The warm notes that the Extra Brut is hardly to be found here.
Palate
On the palate the 2016 À L'Aube de la Côte des Bar Brut Nature powerful and intense. The wine shows maturity not only in its colour and aroma, but also on the palate. In terms of acidity and minerality, this is a fresh, young wine with a lively mousseux. The aromas of the fruit, however, pleasantly reveal eight years of ripeness with red cellar apples, ripe stone fruit, crunchy pomaceous fruit and ripe red berries in combination with herbs, bitter orange zest and plenty of salt on the finish.
