Information about the wine:
If you walk through the Rothenpfad in the summer heat, your boots will later be covered in red dust. So here the name says it all. The vineyard above the Pünderich viaduct is characterized by slate and iron oxide, which colors the stone. The southeastern orientation plays a positive role, especially in hot years. The vineyard was already selected in the first category in the now 150 year old vineyard map of Mosel, Saar and Ruwer. After harvesting and sorting, the vines receive a longer maceration period and are pressed very slowly with low pressure and fermented spontaneously. Clarification takes place by sedimentation. Apart from small amounts of sulphur, nothing else is added. Maturation takes place in traditional Moselan Fuder barrels with a capacity of 1,000 litres. The Großes Gewächse are usually filled in late summer.
Color:
rich straw yellow
Nose:
What a delicious bouquet of red and yellow fruits, slate spices and herbs offers the Rothen's Path topical. Red apples come to mind, especially the skin, along with kumquats and stone fruit, such as plums and mirabelles. Above that, there are floral notes that remind of hedge roses. Grounded is the Rothen's Path by the already mentioned stone, by mint, lemon verbena and some liquorice.
Mouth:
The Große Gewächs quickly builds pressure on the palate with a pressing, striking acidity. After an initial surge, however, it increasingly integrates with the wonderfully ripe yellow fruit. Overall, the Rothen's Path Very firmly wrought, dry and phenolic despite ripe yellow fruit cool and tight. It is just a young Busch wine, which is designed to disappear for some time in the cellar before it shows its full format.
