Color
Bright straw yellow.
Nose
The nose of the 2016 Kirchenstück Riesling Großes Gewächs from Battenfeld-Spanier is always the most open-hearted of Spanier's wines. Yellow fruits like apricots and peaches, yellow apples and decidedly herbaceous notes of sage and chamomile complement the underlying plucky mineral bass.
Mouth
In the nose with good bite and firm grip in the nose. The fruit retreats, it remains a conglomerate of dense extract with delicate phenolic and compactly built acid arc, which acts gustatorisch as drinking accelerator. Monolithic appearance on the palate, complex, extract-rich and cool with juicy fruit notes in the long finish. Very good ageing potential. Now-drinkers please use the big glasses and carafe upside down.
