Information about the wine:
The Chardonnay is grown on loess soils in various plots around Siebeldingen. This loess is a yellow-grey, very calcareous silt. The wine was vinified after destemming and a 24-hour maceration period. After pre-clarification and natural sedimentation, fermentation followed in predominantly new barriques made of French and Palatinate oak. The wine was aged for about ten months.
Color:
golden yellow
Nose:
With this Chardonnay, the focus is currently on the style. Hans Jörg Rebholz rather likes the offensive use of wood, which is reflected here in the form of pineapple, butter fudge and oak in the aroma. There are also warm notes of yellow stone fruit and honeydew melon, but these are countered by citrusy fresh notes. This is rich Palatinate opulence with a certain fresh kick.
Mouth:
And exactly this kick makes it also at the palate. Of course, one also finds here the melange of rich, partly exotic fruit and wood, which still needs to be further integrated. However, one should not reproach the wine at all; because it still needs a few years for the full development. And yet, there is already this citric acidity, the pleasant pressure that builds up on the palate, the fine bitterness of orange zest, and there are the spices that, with air in the glass, give the wine more and more depth and make the wood appear more and more harmonious. This will be really good, but give the wine time and air.
