Wine Description for Pinot Noir 2024 by Heinrich

Colour & Appearance
Deep cherry red with a slightly lighter rim – classic for Pinot Noir that prioritises elegance over power. The colour promises finesse, not extraction at any cost.
Nose
Here we see the signature of a winemaker who understands that Pinot Noir thrives on restraint. Wild strawberries, juicy cherries and raspberries dominate with invigorating freshness. The subtle hint of brioche and delicate yeast notes reveals ageing on fine lees – a decision that lends the wine floating complexity without weighing it down. Herbal notes of thyme blossom and lemon balm add depth whilst remaining discreet. Overall fragrant, precise, playful – exactly how good Pinot should smell.
Palate
Juicy and sensual, with clear focus on red berry fruit. Wild strawberry, raspberry and cherry appear simultaneously fresh and ripe – a balancing act that succeeds. The texture is silky, almost velvety, with a fine, slightly creamy character from lees contact. Delicate tannins provide structure without dominance, whilst vibrant acidity ensures tension and drinkability. Spicy nuances – white pepper, dried herbs – complete the picture. At 12% alcohol, the wine remains light-footed without appearing thin.
Finish
Medium length, clear and elegant. A wine that arrives quietly yet lingers – precisely the right philosophy for Pinot Noir.
Terroir & Origin
From Burgenland at Neusiedlersee, a region more commonly associated with Zweigelt or Blaufränkisch. That such sensitive Pinot Noir succeeds here speaks to cool sites and precise work in the vineyard.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This Pinot demands finesse on the plate: pan-fried salmon, duck breast cooked pink, veal schnitzel with mushroom cream or coq au vin. Also an excellent choice with aged Comté or Brie de Meaux.
Special Features
A Pinot Noir that proves Austria can do more than Grüner Veltliner and indigenous red varieties. Heinrich demonstrates courage in restraint here – a refreshing position in times of over-extracted red wines.
