Wine:
Champagne Larmandier-Bernier Latitude Extra Brut
This brilliant Blanc de Blancs is made from Chardonnay grapes that take root in the picturesque, gently sloping southern slopes of Vertus. The rich and layered flavour of this Latitude is achieved through a clever marriage of up to six vintages. In a meticulous process of 24 months sur lattes, it is skilfully aged, disgorged and rounded off with a fine dosage of four grams.
Color:
The lively sparkle of intense lemon yellow Moussier gives the bottle a fresh yet elegant sheen.
Nose:
The cheerfulness and purity of this Blanc de Blancs from Vertus unfolds at the first nosing. The bouquet seems thoroughly dry and reminiscent of the scent of rock flour, accompanied by the refreshing note of citrus fruits and a hint of white strawberries. However, this olfactory experience is dominated by a rich herbal spiciness and a slightly bitter tone reminiscent of tonic water.
Palate:
On the tongue, the Latitude unfolds an impressive clarity and purity, characterised by an exact precision. Exactly as one would expect from a young Blanc de Blancs from the chalk zone. However, its fullness of flavour also reveals a certain sensuality and richness. The warm power of the southern Vertus slopes is evident here, giving this wine a charming richness and depth.
Food recommendations:
This exquisite wine is perfect as an aperitif with focaccia with rosemary and olive oil, a delicate lemon fish carpaccio or a crusty baguette with duck terrine.
