Wine information
The Pünderich site Marienburg Fahrlay is a vineyard with mainly blue shining slate. The clay content is high, and there is also a small proportion of lime particles. The very gravelly terraced site faces south. The type of rock later provides high tension and minerality in the wine. After harvesting and sorting, the vines receive a longer maceration period, are pressed very slowly with low pressure and fermented spontaneously. The clarification takes place by sedimentation. Apart from small amounts of sulphur, nothing else is added. The wine is matured in traditional Moselle barrels with a capacity of 1,000 litres. The wine has matured for two years and was then drawn to the bottle unfiltered.
Color
medium straw yellow
Nose
The fragrance reveals the Fahrlay reserve Darkly spicy with smoky notes from the slate and a cool herbaceous austerity, into which a fresh lemon with its zest gradually seeps in, but also notes of juniper, furthermore blackcurrants with a little tropical notes.
Palate
On the palate the Reserve an absolutely pure and unadulterated expression of the blue-slate terroir. Dark, spicy stone determines the palette. In addition, there are salt, herbs, pepper, again citrus fruits, but also a warm and inviting yellow fruity note. The Riesling shows itself vibrantly alive, clear and straight in acidity, fresh and energetic, long and punchy. At this stage it definitely benefits from some time in a decanter.
