Su hijo Jules la replant\u00f3 con paciencia y, a trav\u00e9s de Henri, la propiedad lleg\u00f3 finalmente a Hubert Lignier, que asumi\u00f3 la direcci\u00f3n en 1959.<\/p>\n<p>En 1973, en plena crisis de ventas, Hubert tom\u00f3 una decisi\u00f3n que marcar\u00eda la bodega: embotell\u00f3 \u00e9l mismo sus vinos, en lugar de entregarlos a granel al comercio. De proveedor an\u00f3nimo de uvas pas\u00f3 a ser una direcci\u00f3n con nombre propio, y con cada d\u00e9cada se sumaron parcelas por toda la <strong>C\u00f4te de Nuits<\/strong>: Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin, adem\u00e1s del Clos de Vougeot.<\/p>\n<h2>Romain y la continuidad<\/h2>\n<p>En 1992 Romain Lignier se incorpor\u00f3 junto a su padre; era el menor de los tres hermanos. Ambos empezaron a labrar de nuevo los suelos, y los vinos de Romain encontraron enseguida admiradores mucho m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de Borgo\u00f1a. En 2004 falleci\u00f3, con apenas 34 a\u00f1os. They are the genetic origin of this estate: from their wood, Henri propagated his remaining parcels vine by vine through massal selection in the 1960s. Whoever drinks a Lignier wine today drinks a lineage that began in these rows.<\/p>\n<p>The old vines tend towards <strong>millerandage<\/strong> \u2013 they bear tiny, often seedless berries of enormous concentration. Jacques Lignier, a <strong>chef de culture<\/strong> at another estate, bought parcels that phylloxera had rendered worthless back then \u2013 land nobody wanted any more. His son Jules patiently replanted it, and via Henri the property finally passed to Hubert Lignier, who took over the management in 1959.<\/p>\n<p>In 1973, in the midst of a sales crisis, Hubert made a decision that would shape the estate: he bottled his wines himself instead of selling them in barrel to the trade. The anonymous grape supplier became an address with its own name \u2013 and with every decade new vineyard sites were added across the <strong>C\u00f4te de Nuits<\/strong>: Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin, plus Clos de Vougeot.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Romain, and the legacy that lives on<\/h2>\n<p>In 1992, Romain Lignier, the youngest of three siblings, joined his father. The two began ploughing the soils again, and Romain\u2019s wines quickly found admirers far beyond Burgundy. He died in 2004, just 34 years old. The years that followed were difficult \u2013 for the family and for the estate.<\/p>\n<p>Laurent Lignier, Romain\u2019s brother, picked up the thread. He had learnt his craft elsewhere, including at the Beaune house of Albert Bichot, before returning to Morey in 2004. By 2013 he had brought the domaine back together and has run it ever since \u2013 the <strong>fifth generation<\/strong> on the same land.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Gravity instead of pressure<\/h2>\n<p>Laurent quietly changed the way things were done. From 2007, synthetic treatments disappeared from the vineyards; in 2019 the estate obtained <strong>organic certification<\/strong>. The cellar in Morey, moved into in 2008, works solely by gravity \u2013 no pump touches the wine, from the must through to bottling. Tous deux recommenc\u00e8rent \u00e0 labourer les sols, et les vins de Romain trouv\u00e8rent rapidement des admirateurs bien au-del\u00e0 de la Bourgogne. Il mourut en 2004, \u00e0 seulement 34 ans.
