The average age of the vines is 34 years. They are deep soils with a clay layer on a limestone base. Fermentation took place in open vats, ageing over 18 months in barrels. The proportion of new wood was 25 %.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Colour<\/h4>\n<div>\n<p>medium garnet red, slightly transparent<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Nose<\/h4>\n<div>\n<p>The <em>Volnay Village 2018<\/em> is composed of a ripe red as well as dark, slightly sweet and ripe berry fruit with some cherries, yeast and discreet undergrowth as well as some dry earth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Palate<\/h4>\n<div>\n<p>On the palate, this is a silky fine <em>Volnay<\/em> with a flattering, slightly chalky tannin that is at the same time quite present and structuring. The fruit is dark, and it is carried by a ripe yet lively acidity as well as a decent portion of extract.
