Medium golden yellow with a promising lustre - a visual promise of the complexity that will follow.

This Gemischter Satz reveals an impressive aromatic complexity. Apricot and ripe apple dominate at first, accompanied by fresh orange zest and exotic mango nuances. On contact with the air, a fascinating second level develops: yeast notes merge with elegant roasted nuances of vanilla, creamy café au lait and light tobacco. This complexity is a testament to the skilful use of wood and the 11-month yeast maturation.

The aromatic complexity of the nose is confirmed on the palate. The fullness of the fruit harmonises perfectly with the silky smoothness and the integrated toasted notes. The subtle tannin structure is particularly noteworthy - unusual for a white wine, but here a sign of the extraction from the 40-year-old vines. Delicate tart notes lend the wine tension and make it an ideal accompaniment to food.

This blend of Pinot Blanc, Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling and Riesling comes from the Hummergraben vineyard on ferruginous slate soil. The 40-year-old vines give the wine its remarkable depth. The malolactic fermentation in 600-litre and 228-litre barrels and the long maturation on the lees create a perfect balance between freshness and complexity.

The tannin structure and complexity predestine this wine for fine dining. It harmonises particularly well with Orange and chicory gratinbut also with fried char, Veal escalope in cream sauce or mature cheeses.

Krutzler's Gemischter Satz impressively demonstrates how traditional Austrian viticulture complements modern vinification. The combination of old vines, mineral-rich terroir and precise use of wood creates a wine with Austrian soul and international appeal - a real insider tip from Burgenland.

Special features
