The fruit is cool and brilliant - a sign of precise work in the vineyard and cellar. This nose promises more than just simple drinking pleasure.

Palate

The true class of this Marsannay is revealed here: a fascinating tension between ripe fruit and youthful energy. The broad arc of acidity acts like a corset that keeps the opulence of the vintage in shape. The Tart phenolic blends in perfectly and gives the wine grip and structure. Powerful, but never clumsy - the extract, the flavour and the proportions are perfect.

Departure

Long, curved and with cool mineral finish, reminiscent of the chalky soils of Marsannay. A finish that invites you to take the next sip.

Terroir & origin

From two plots in Marsannay, the northernmost AOC of the Côte de Nuits. The vines are rooted on calcareous and clayey soils with good sun exposure - owned by Domaine Trapet since 1993.

Grape variety & vinification

100% Chardonnay, hand-picked, spontaneous fermentation. The wine is matured partly in stainless steel and partly in used barrels - a clever combination that preserves freshness without sacrificing complexity. Minimal sulphurisation during bottling underlines the natural philosophy of the house.

Food pairing suggestions

This wine calls for sophisticated cuisine: Scallops with celery cream, Poached turbot, Sweetbreads in butter sauce or Comté with intermediate maturity. Also to Poultry in cream sauce an excellent choice.

Special features

A prime example of how to make a wine with freshness and excitement from the challenging, warm 2023 vintage. Trapet proves once again why the house is one of the most reliable addresses in Burgundy.

The Marsannay blanc AOC 2023 from Trapet Père & Fils is an elegant Burgundian Chardonnay from the northernmost appellation of the Côte de Nuits.
