The 2022 vintage presents itself as a classic Burgundian year with balanced ripeness and preserved acidity structure - a welcome balance after the increasingly warmer vintages of previous years. This wine should develop particularly harmoniously in magnum format.

The Rougeot family has a philosophy of minimal intervention in the cellar and meticulous manual labour in the vineyard. Their Chardonnays are typically fermented with natural yeasts and matured in predominantly used oak barrels, which emphasises terroir expression without masking it with exaggerated wood influence.

La Combe Bazin is a single vineyard known for its cool exposure and the resulting slow, even ripening - ideal conditions for Chardonnay with depth and finesse.

You can expect a Pinot Blanc with crystalline clarity that perfectly balances the tension between ripe fruit and chalky minerality. The moderate residual sweetness (classified as low) emphasises the dry, precise character of the wine.

Saint-Romain wines often position themselves stylistically between the tautness of Puligny-Montrachet and the richer texture of Meursault - with an excellent price-quality ratio that makes them insider tips among Burgundy connoisseurs.

The fine acid structure and minerality predestine this wine for seafood, especially oysters and lobster. It also harmonises well with creamy risottos, roasted wild mushrooms or a classic chicken à la crème. The magnum bottle makes it the ideal companion for festive occasions in a small circle.

Stylistic categorisation
