Vintage: <\/strong>After a long and, especially in the finale, very cold winter, an extreme rise in temperature followed within a short time, with very rapid budding of the vines and unusually high spring temperatures of up to over 30 degrees. This was followed by one of the earliest vine blossoms of all times, which in some vineyards was already completed by the end of May.<\/p>\n

Extensive rainfall in June brought the vineyards well supplied into a hot and increasingly dry summer. Already towards the end of July, the first berries softened and discoloration began in the red wine varieties, an unmistakable sign that we could expect a particularly early harvest.<\/p>\n

Vintage<\/strong>
\nThis actually started unusually early, from 20 August the first grapes were harvested for the basic wines, but also Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs for the Prestige lines Select and Grand Select<\/em> were soon to be harvested. The decisions about the harvest time were certainly particularly important in this vintage and particularly individual from vineyard to vineyard and our excellent equipment with cooling technology in the entire winery area was almost essential in the 2018 harvest.<\/p>\n

The 2018 vintage<\/strong> shows itself with very fine, balanced and juicy-drinking white wines and particularly well structured deep-dark, spicy-fruity red wines, in all cases with very high storage potential. Exceptional ripeness and impeccable health of the grapes speak for an above-average vintage.<\/p>\n

Ground:<\/strong> The grapes for Gr\u00fcner Veltliner Nussberg come from two vineyards on the Nussberg, the \"Weisleiten\" vineyard and the \"Haarlocke\" vineyard.The Nussberg consists mainly of limestone-rich shell limestone with limestone in the subsoil.<\/p>\n

Vineyard and cellar:<\/strong> Like all our vineyards, this one is also cultivated according to biodynamic guidelines. The grapes were harvested by hand, selected and carefully pressed after a maceration period of about six hours. The must, pre-clarified by settling, was fermented and aged in steel tanks using natural yeasts to accentuate the fruity character as much as possible and to support the fine peppery spice. After a medium ageing period on the fine lees, the wine was carefully filtered and bottled. The wine has not been altered with any fining agents and is therefore not only vegan, but has been produced completely untreated according to the ideas of Rudolf Steiner.

\nWine Description:<\/strong>Gr\u00fcner Veltliner Nussberg 2018 is a radiant Gr\u00fcner Veltliner with a medium yellow and silver reflections. Fresh orange zest on the nose, hints of pear and honeydew melon. Good body, firm and lively with salty minerality, a lemony touch. An animating food companion.
