The year, which was considered hot and dry, had some of the highest rainfall. At the beginning of the harvest, rainfall amounts corresponding to other annual amounts were measured between April and September.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Peronospera pressure was correspondingly high and repeatedly caused heavy losses. August was then very dry and brought ripening forward, before a rainy September made the start of the harvest difficult again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The harvest for this wine took place from the end of September to mid-October. A maximum of four hours of maceration was used and in some cases whole cluster pressing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Spontaneous fermentation in steel tanks at a controlled maximum of 20\u00b0C for eight to twelve weeks. Subsequently aged in steel tanks on the fine lees until bottling, about three to four months.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>80% are on gneiss and 20% on gravel &amp; loess. Vine age varies greatly from 10 - 50 years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The yield is rated at 35-45hl per hectare.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Colour<\/h4>\n<div>\n<p>Sparkling straw yellow with light and green reflections<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Nose<\/h4>\n<div>\n<p>On the nose, the 2022 Kamptal Riesling gives a taut, consistent impression. Grassy to herbal with very little room for fruit. A little unripe stone fruit as well as hints of yellow and green apples come to the fore, in rudiments also kaffir lime leaves as well as a little abrasion. Above all, it lives from a fine flint note. Wet stone and cold smoke underline this idea. Fresh garden herbs dominate. Lemon balm, thyme, sage and parsley. A hint of Frankfurt Green Sauce is in the air.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Palate<\/h4>\n<div>\n<p>A typical universal statement would now be to emphasise the dryness of this Austrian Riesling. However, it is much more decisive to mention that it simply appears consistently, tightly and with a lot of pressure on the palate. A fine phenolic structure leaves its mark in the very best sense. Great feel, demanding and animating at the same time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>This is how Riesling goes today! The mouth literally waters.
